XCursor Parser

Custom binary parser reads freedesktop.org XCursor files. Handles ARGB premultiplied pixels, multiple sizes per cursor, validates file integrity.

Semantic Detection

Accessibility API (AXUIElement) detects cursor context: text editing, links, resizing, and more. Terminal-specific iBeam fix included.

Guaranteed Restore

Installation

Download the DMG
~1 MB direct download. Cursor themes are fetched later, inside the app.

Drag to Applications
Open the DMG and drag Macape to your Applications folder.

First launch: right-click → Open
Macape is distributed outside the App Store and isn’t notarized, so macOS shows an “unidentified developer” notice. Right-click the app → Open → Open. Needed only once.

Grant Accessibility
Allow Accessibility permission when prompted. Required for system-wide cursor replacement.

Pick a theme
Click the menu bar icon, browse 80+ themes, and apply with one click.

Prefer the Terminal? Clear the quarantine flag instead of right-clicking:
